# Tracking BS(SE) Degree Progress at Iqra University

// iqra university · 137 credits · software engineering

Graduating on time with a BS in Software Engineering requires strict tracking. If you miss a core requirement or fail to complete your 5 electives, you could be stuck taking an extra semester.

Here is exactly what you need to track to ensure you hit that 137-credit milestone without any surprises.

## The Manual Way: The Syllabus Checklist

If you are tracking your progress manually through the standard portal, you need to keep a close eye on these three buckets:

  • 1. The Total Credits (137): You must complete exactly 137 credit hours to graduate. This includes both the theory courses (usually 3 credits) and the practical labs (1 credit).
  • 2. The 5 Electives: You are required to pass 5 Domain Electives (DE). These usually start opening up in your 5th and 6th semesters. Keep a tally of these; do not leave them all for Semester 8!
  • 3. The Final Year Project (FYP): SEN451 and SEN454 are your FYP I and II. You cannot register for FYP II until FYP I is completely cleared. Plan your senior year accordingly.

### Dealing with "Not Offered" Courses

Sometimes a core course you need to retake is marked as "Course not Offered" in the portal. If this blocks your progression, you must visit the coordinator immediately to see if it's being offered in a different section or campus.

## The 1-Click Way (The Dashboard)

We built a custom Progress Dashboard tailored specifically for the 137-credit structure.

> Fetching transcript...
> Calculating credits: 96 / 137 completed (70%)
> Electives complete: 3 / 5
> Status: On track for graduation.

By importing your courses into IUSemPlanner, the 'Progress' tab generates a beautiful visual ring showing exactly how far along you are. It breaks down your completion percentage by semester, counts your electives, and flags any missing requirements automatically.
